Trendy and practical solution for both small and spacious bathrooms. Walk-in shower cubicles can be precisely adjusted to the dimensions and shape of the interior. Trayless shower cubicle’s popularity is on the rise.
Excellent alternative for traditional shower trays
If we use a ready-made acrylic shower tray, we have to fit the project to its determined measurements. If we use a walk-in shower cubicle, we don’t need to worry about that. Instead of installing a shower tray, a ceramic floor is laid. It is integrated into the rest of the floor in the bathroom.
Convenient to install
Floor-level shower tray finished with tiles can be made in a traditional manner: first, the floor surface where the cubicle is supposed to be should be removed. Then, the space should be filled with concrete and appropriate inclinations in the floor should be made. Afterwards, the surface should be primed and waterproofed with the use of liquid foil or insulation mass. TA drain must be made, point drain or linear drain. The latter one has a larger surface of so-called water reception and it has a more esthetic and definitely a more modern look. They may be simple or angled models to install in corners, with steel covers, or they may be adapted for tiles to be installed on top of them. The important aspect is that thanks to modern drains in floor-level shower trays, it is very easy to remove any impurities from the water trap.
The use of this traditional method of no-threshold shower tray fabrication is no longer necessary. There are ready-made shower tray platforms. They are very thin (even 40 mm thick) and already have formed inclinations for the water to go down the trap. How to assemble them? We buy a platform with an appropriate drain, whether point or linear. It’s enough to simply install them on the floor and seal with mortar and tape. Once the ready-made shower tray platform is installed, tiles may be laid on top of it right after without the need for prior priming and introducing additional insulation.
Striking finishings – tiles in the cubicle
The quality of the finishings of the invisible elements is the most important matter due to the subsequent comfort of use of such cubicle and its protection against leaking or flooding the bathroom.
The quality of material and walk-in cubicle construction has a tremendous effect on subsequent comfort of use. Ceramika Paradyż’s Margarita collection.
The finishings of the shower tray, the quality of the ceramic tiles, joints, glues, and of course the craft of the tiler, however, are just as important. Flexible glues for insulation in the form of liquid foils and masses and waterproof joints should be used here. The skills of the person laying the tiles is particularly visible in such places as the spaces joining the tiles and inlets where the tiles have to be accurately cut and installed.
Walk-in cubicles are constructed using glass walls. If the shower is located in a bathroom corner, we can choose an option with only one wall and a completely open entrance on the other side. Another solution are glass protections on both sides and making a smaller entrance on one of them. In large bathrooms, walk-in shower cubicles have entrances on both sides, where only one glass wall separates the shower from the rest of the room protecting it from the splashing water.
Advantages of a walk-in shower cubicle:
- Comfortable bath thanks to the spaciousness of the cubicle.
- The shape of the cubicles can be adapted to the bathroom dimensions.
- It makes it easier to arrange a bathroom on the upper floor with slanting ceilings or atypically-shaped rooms.
- Easy to enter shower cubicles, which is especially important if they are used by children, elderly, or disabled people.
- The ceramic tiles installed in the cubicles are the same as in the rest of the bathroom, which improves the esthetic impression of the interior and makes it visually larger.
- One glass wall is enough for the cubicles to function.
Most of all, however, walk-in shower cubicles give the bathroom a modern look.
